Why Blog?

Posted by Indignus Vernula on May 26, 2007

This will be my first blog entry and I hope everything will be fine…

I’ve had recent posts on my Friendster account but those are just plain blah-blah-blahs and some “copy+paste” posts from our Church’s official site.

But why blog?

I’m not good in grammar so I may have to say some words using my native tongue. But there is one thing that moved me from making my own blog – freedom, especially the Freedom of Religion.

What freedom of religion?! In our country, Philippines, government officials are being paid by some religious groups so that they can freely sue another religious group, especially their leaders and their programs. Why are they doing that? Maybe because they are getting pissed by what the other program is preaching… but there is a reason behind it. Ano yon? Simple lang, TINATAMAAN sila at GUILTY sila, the other religion is telling the truth about their false doctrines, tapos ang gagawin nila ay suhulan ang mga governments officials para ipahinto ang kabilang programa. Parang ABS-CBN lang yan at GMA.

It is against the principle of Freedom of Religion, or of Freedom by itself. But still they are doing that. Nakakasama ng loob but on the other hand, we are lucky. To be frank, I’m referring to my Religion, na pilit pinipigilan magpahayag ng katotohanan, versus Iglesia ni Manalo (INC).

But there was a time na ang mga “tinta” naman ang inireklamo ng mga Katolika dahil sa mga programa nila. Pero pinanigan sila ng gobyerno. Why? No comment.🙂

Here are the few excerpts from the said case of the Catholic Church against INM:

The respondent Board may disagree with the criticisms of other religions by petitioner but that gives it no excuse to interdict such criticisms, however, unclean they may be. Under our constitutional scheme, it is not the task of the State to favor any religion by protecting it against an attack by another religion. Religious dogmas and beliefs are often at war and to preserve peace among their followers, especially the fanatics, the establishment clause of freedom of religion prohibits the State from leaning towards any religion. Vis-a-vis religious differences, the State enjoys no banquet of options. Neutrality alone is its fixed and immovable stance. In fine, respondent board cannot squelch the speech of petitioner Iglesia ni Cristo simply because it attacks other religions, even if said religion happens to be the most numerous church in our country. In a State where there ought to be no difference between the appearance and the reality of freedom of religion, the remedy against bad theology is better theology. The bedrock of freedom of religion is freedom of thought and it is best served by encouraging the marketplace of dueling ideas. When the luxury of time permits, the marketplace of ideas demands that speech should be met by more speech for it is the spark of opposite speech, the heat of colliding ideas that can fan the embers of truth.

Napakagandang decision, and I quote:

the remedy against bad theology is better theology [AMEN!]

But what happened to our side nung tayo naman ang inireklamo? Tahasang pagpapakita na yan ng pagpanig ng gobyerno sa isang religion, which is very unfair, especially to those who are telling the truth. As always tayo ang api.

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you,
and persecute you, and shall say all manner
of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Matthew 5:11

So why blog?
