Chuvanes

Posted by Indignus Vernula on June 24, 2007

Minsan sa sobrang bilis ng mga pangyayare at masyado ka nang nadadala sa mga pangyayare ay nauubusan ka din ng sasabihin.  O di kaya’y sadyang tanga lang tayo?  Minsan mauutal mo na lang na “Yung chuvah kasi eh pinatulan pa!”. Pero naisip mo na ba kung saan nanggaling ang salitang “chuva” o “chorva”…. Hmmm napaisip ka ba?

CHORVA has its etymology from the Greek word “cheorvamus,” meaning “for lack of the right word to say,” or “in place of anything you want to express but cannot verbalize.” Ibig sabihin pala, siya ay parang “aloha” sa wikang Hawaiiano, which can mean many, many things such as “hello”, “love”, or “goodbye”.

“Chorva” can be used as:

Noun: “ano” / “kwan” / “or something”
Example:
“Ate Glow, kelan yung birthday chorvah ni Big Mike?”
“Hoy, Vicky to, whatcha gonna wear ba? The sporty or the Chinese chorva mo?”

Adjective: used if you want to be polite.
Example:
“Ang chorva naman niyan!”
(So, ano ba? Pangit ba o maganda? Baduy ba or maarte? They will never know what you really mean.)

Verb: can replace any verb
Example:
Chorva lang ng chorva!” (ang kulet nito!)

“Chorva” is such an amazing word; it lets you choose your own adventure. At least, you will never be accused of putting words in somebody else’s mouth. If you don’t have anything to say, or you can’t find the right word to say, or you want to say something but you don’t know how to say it, just say CHORVA!🙂

Variations: chuva, chenes, chenelyn, etchos, chuvanes, charosss!

***This is just a repost. May mga idinagdag lang ako. If you are the original author of the article, please let me know kasi pinasaya mo ako. Chuva ka!😀
